“Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights: A Novel” by Salman Rushdie

March 1, 2017 @ 11:30 am – 12:30 pm

This is a comic novel by a respected storyteller.  The title alludes to 1,001 nights and the story of Scheherazade and concerns a fantasy world which is ruled by unreason after a storm striking New York.   Strange things happen to formerly reasonable people.  The book is replete with fantastical creatures, scary monsters, very bad men or male jinns/genies, and one heroic woman.  There is a great battle between absolute Good and Evil.  It has been called an intellectual treasure chest, also a hyped up saga with something so loopy, so unleashed, as to make it particularly thrilling.
