Meet the Author Tea.  Zeynep Tufekci is an associate professor at the School of Information and Library Science with an affiliate appointment in the Department of Sociology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.  She is also a faculty associate at the Harvard Beckman Center for Internet and Society.  Her new book, Twitter and Tear Gas; The Power and Fragility of Networked Protest, examines these movements and how governments have responded to the rise of digital tools with their own methods.
